Tattoo Ideas – Secret Sexy Tattoos For Couples

Looking for sexy tattoo ideas for you and your significant other? Sharing a secret, sexy tattoo that is just between you and another person can be very personal and meaningful. Here are some ideas for sexy tattoos that are meant just for couples.

First there is the tattoo itself. What the tattoo says, what it means, the design and feelings behind it are all something to think about. That is very important for couples. But there is also the act of getting the tattoo done as a couple. That can be just as significant.

Make sure for the meaning to be heightened in its importance that the two of you get your tattoos done together, at the same time.

They say it is the journey not just the destination that is the prize. Think about this as a couple considering a sexy tattoo, that is meant for just you two. Spend time together talking about what is important in your relationship, where you want the relationship to go, even where the relationship has been. Consider your special and private feelings for each other. These should all be factors in your decision about what kind of tattoo to get together.

Also, you should discuss where you want the tattoos placed on the body. You will want to think of locations that are intimate and personal. This is a tattoo that if it is to be kept secret should not be visible to others or at best only during most intimate times.

A secret, sexy tattoo should also be small so it is easier to conceal. Larger tattoos will be too obvious and would defeat the intended purpose.

Should you go for words or art work? Either would work. A lot will depend on what is most significant between the two of you and your relationship. Be sure to talk about this as well.

Here is an important word of caution. No matter how solid the relationship, the one thing constant in life is change. And relationships can change and they quite often do. The way you two feel about each other may remain strong forever and if that is the case that is wonderful. But if things change and you no longer remain together, you have to consider that is a possibility in the future.

For this reason it is advised that you do not use each other’s name as one of your secret, sexy tattoo ideas. Because a tattoo is permanent, it would not be pleasant to spend the rest of your life having to wear a personal tattoo bearing the name of someone that you no longer have close, intimate feelings for.

Mystery Behind Star Tattoos Revealed

My second tattoo. This one hurt a lot more, di...
Image via Wikipedia

If you are into tattoos or even if you are interested in ink as an observer, you have likely noticed the enormous amount of “star tattoos” out there.

What’s the deal with star tats? Why does everybody seem to get stars tattooed on them?

Here I reveal the mystery behind the star tattoo phenomena.

Stars are very traditional.

If you think stars are a modern phenomena that just has been happening in recent years, then you have to look back to the origins of tattoo popularity. It was actually sailors and navy seamen who made star ink popular. In reference to the nautical star, they would get this design inked on as a strong symbol of direction and finding one’s way home safely from battle and rough seas.

Over the years, star ink has been taken in by various groups using the same symbolism of strength and guidance to apply in their own lives. The punk movement is an example of a group who took in the star design.

Modern Star Wearers.

Other more modern groups who have chosen stars include current men and women of the military, utilizing the same symbolization that traditional navy men used; finding their way safely home from battle.

Another interesting group heavily inked in star designs are mixed martial arts cage fighters. You can see how the symbolization works with this group of mostly men, but some women also. Safely emerging victorious from battle waged in the cage.

Then of course we have to mention the trend hoppers who simply get stars for no rhyme nor reason other than they see it as a popular form of ink that must be “cool” because other people have chosen it.

In any event, these are some of the main reasons why star ink is so common in tattoo culture.

3D Tattoo Designs

These tattoo designs are also being flaunted by a number of celebrities as they represent attitude and passion. These new designs are a unique style of tattooing that adds depth and realism to the design. This is accomplished by adding a shadow to the design to make it look like it is either a part of your skin, or something standing on top of your skin.

Choosing the perfect tattoo design

Nearly any design can be made 3D. Think of anything you want in a tattoo, and then think about how it could be shaded to make it appear 3D. Does the idea of an alien lunging out beneath your skin seem like an awesome idea to you? Then go with it. The great thing about choosing 3D designs is that extreme details only make the tattoo better.

Various types of 3D tattoo designs

In the world of Tattoos there are no deficit of designs.

• Spider Tattoo: An example is where the tattoo artist adds shadow beneath the legs so that it appears like the spider is really walking across the skin.

• Butterfly Tattoo: If you want a butterfly sitting on your shoulder, it can be done with simple shading or even an injection.

• Alien Tattoo: The design of an alien lunging beneath your skin is also spectacular.

Choosing tattoo designs is easy. The hard part is placed on the tattoo artist. As long as the artist has the skills and, of course the drive, to create amazing tattoo work, then you will be happy with the final result of your new design.

7 Tattoo Tips – MUST READ Tips Before Getting Inked!

Here are 7 tattoo tips for a no regret tattoo!

1. Go BIGGER rather than smaller. Believe it or not, people have more regret over how small their design is. They tend to be conservative with size, but then once it is on they realize bigger would have been better.

2.Consider COLORS. Have you decided on what colors you want your design to be? Lots of people finally make a decision on their design, but forget they have coloring options. A good tattoo artist should let you know which colors will work best for your design.

3. Avoid the FACE. This is common sense to a lot of people. Face tattoos are extremely regrettable and the suicide rate is high among those who choose to get inked on the face.

4. Prepare for the PAIN. This won’t be a huge deal for some as they will adapt to the pain factor once the needle settles in. But for others, the pain is a big deal and they are totally unprepared. Ask the parlor or the artist if they have a good comparison test that you can do so you know what your personal pain tolerance will be for the ink.

5. Don’t get DRUNK. You want the best work possible and being drunk isn’t going to make it happen. You need to be still while the ink is applied and you don’t to feel as if your head is spinning while getting inked.

6. Think twice about tattoo NAMES. Any tattoo decision should be taken seriously. But names inparticular should be taken extra seriously. These tend to be the most covered up tattoo designs. There’s a high level of regret with name tattoos!

7. Go to a TATTOO GALLERY ONLINE beforehand. If you want to be sure to find the best design possible, then visit and join up to an online tattoo gallery. These are excellent sources for high quality ink and the selection is incredible. You can print out the designs and bring them straight to the parlor.

Tattoo Ideas For Cage Fighters

A lot of cage fighters have tattoos, and there are a lot of up and coming fighters looking to get inked. What kind of ink should you consider if you are, or you are getting into, cage fighting? Here are some excellent options to consider:

1. Nautilus Star. Star tattoos became big decades ago with Navy men who would get the nautilus star tattooed as a symbol of guidance and bringing one home safely from battle. You can see how the star tattoo works well for fighters. It can be used as a symbol of safely guiding one through a battle in the cage.

2. Warrior Ink. Cage fighting is very tribal in nature. It’s man vs. man in a no-holds barred environment. Warrior tattoos are obviously relevant with fighters. This can range from tribal designs to other forms of ancient warrior ink.

3. Fighting Style ink. If you have a certain fighting style that you are proud of, then a symbol of it can make for an excellent tattoo. Some Ju-Jitsu practitioners have a circle style tattoo of 2 grapplers for instance. Others just get the name of their art tattooed on themselves.

4. Symbols of strength, courage, power and discipline. All of these qualities are HUGE for fighting, and any one or all of these are excellent choices to get inked with. Now, the specific design you choose is up to you. While it should stand for one or more of the above qualities, it should also be a design that speaks to you personally.

Whatever your decide, remember to always research your tattoo ideas to make sure you find the best looking, strongest representational design that speaks to you.

Tattoo FAQs – What Are the Most Popular Tattoo Designs?

The list below is a short list of tattoo designs that have been searched for on the Internet year in and year out. The list could be longer but these are some of the most popular.

Tribal Tattoos

There has been an ever-growing interest in tribal tattoos and they are very popular amongst men and women. There has been an amazing array of tribal designs developed over the years. The original tattoos were used in tribes to denote a range of things: status in the tribe, successful completion of a rite of passage or a symbol of courage. The modern tribal designs have evolved from those. They may not have the same significance they once had they still have a connection to those early tribal cultures. Some designs are very dramatic and eye-catching. Maori tattoos are popular but care has to be taken to avoid using tattoos still in use by the Maori people, which might denote membership of a particular tribe. Their use by others could be offensive. A good artist will know this and will use one of the many tribal styles available.

Cross Tattoos

Cross Tattoos are a perennial favorite. People wear the cross as an enduring symbol of faith, hope and love. It is also used as a memorial, to remember loved ones gone and to connect with them spiritually. It can remind them to have faith when things get tough – to help them through difficult times. The cross is an ancient symbol used by pre-Christian cultures as a mark of power or prestige, as a rite of passage and as a link to their Gods. They believed wearing the symbol would give them some divine power.

Star Tattoos

The image of the star is a favourite as it has been in many cultures throughout history. It is connected to a number of religions and cultures and to the universe. Many regard it as a source of power and good fortune. Stars have fascinated astronomers, astrologers and philosophers for thousands of years. Stars can be seen as a guiding light – mariners sailed by the stars; a star guided the three wise men. The five-pointed start is the most popular, either on its own or in a cluster or worked into other images.

Butterfly Tattoos

Butterfly tattoos are a particular favourite for women. They have been one of their top choices for many years and do not look like loosing their appeal. There are a number of reasons for this: the number of beautiful designs available – they can work as a small delicate image or a bold statement in a tribal image. Another is the story of the butterfly itself – a beautiful creature emerging from ugliness, only to last a brief moment before it is lost forever. It is a symbol of rebirth and regeneration, which, in turn, gives hope.

Angel Tattoos

An angel tattoo is used as a symbol of faith and devotion. It reminds us of God‘s presence and special protection. Most of us are familiar with angels as Guardian Angels and as messengers from God. They have a special connection to God and, through them, we can connect o him. The symbol is used to give people strength and hope.

Kanji Tattoos

About 1 in 5 Internet tattoo design searches are for Kanji tattoos. People are drawn to the idea of being able to express themselves with these exotic symbols. There are between 2000 and 3000 Kanji symbols, which means there are more than enough for most people to find a symbol that works for them. Japanese calligraphy is an art form so the flowing lines of a Kanji tattoo can be attractive and artistic.

Other popular tattoo designs are dragons, flowers, texts and fairies. But then there is a sub-list because people might be looking for Celtic or Gothic style designs or ones that mean strength or love. One thing is certain, the popularity of having a drawing done on some part of the body has not diminished and this seems unlikely to change in the near future.

William Burnell has a longstanding interest in the art, designs and history of tattoos. He enjoys sharing this interest with others and in helping them in their quest for their unique symbol of self-expression. Since thousands of years tribal tattoos are being inked into the skin of human beings. The practice may somewhat differ from what tattooing means now but people still get tribal tattoos done on their skin because of their striking design and appearance. Earlier tattoos were done mainly with the reason of belonging to a tribe. People with the same type of tattoo on their skin belonged to the same tribe. Apart for this reason there were also many other reasons for getting a tattoo.

For some tribes tattooing was a path to social status. The Maori tribe was one among them. The Maoris were a tribe of New Zealand and tribal tattoos let them ride the ladder of social status. They have opened up to the concept of treating ailments through the process of acupuncture.

In the earlier days some people used to get tattooed to show their passage from childhood to adulthood. It was believed that if a boy can not tolerate the pain of tattooing then he will not be a good warrior and so he would have chances of being secluded from the tribe. On the other hand it was believed that if a girl can not take the pain of tattooing then she will not be able to tolerate the pain of childbirth.

From 1970s tribal tattoos again came to light. People started wanting tribal tattoos with simple designs and deeper meanings. People started looking for their own origins to make their own unique tribal tattoos. Thus they created a new form of tribal tattoo known as the neo-tribal tattoo.

Tattoos – A History of This Taboo Art

Man had always used different ways to express his feelings and inner personality. This expression is pretty much visible in the way a person dresses and the things he or she wears. For instance, most people like wearing military t-shirts because they symbolize courage, bravery and strength. Although a military t-shirt is something of a generic nature, there are many personalized ways of showing off individuality and personality. One of the ways that have been around for ages is the art of tattooing.

For a long time, it was believed that tattoos emerged from Egypt as mummies of several pharaohs indicated the marks of tattoos in several places. However, a 5300 year old mummy of Otzi the Iceman also had tattoo markings on his body. This proves that tattooing has been an art since the prehistoric era. The purpose behind those tattoos remains uncertain.

Another prehistoric body discovered in Russia shows a significant amount of body prints depicting magical and mythical creatures and real animals. A number of such mummies were later discovered from the same place, all of which had a good amount of such tattoos around their bodies.

As the Egyptian empire spread wider, the tattoo tradition and art started to go further and further. However, in India, henna was already used to make markings on the body. These marking were just for beautification purpose. In Greek, tattooing is said to have been used for a real purpose for the first time as spies were marked with identification marks and secret codes. On the other hand, Romans began to use tattoos to mark their prisoners. This practice is still used in Rome and many other places.

In Samoan Islands, tattoo is also a part of ancient tradition. It symbolizes the social standing of a person. The chief of the tribe is usually the one with heaviest tattooing. A proper ceremony is held in which younger chiefs get their tattoos to indicate that they have reached puberty. The marks are proudly carried as a symbol of their dedication to the culture.

Tattooing is considered a very important part of New Zealand‘s culture. Moko art is a very prime example of the skills and precision they have gained along with time. People used carving techniques for this purpose.

The Indonesian Borneo tribe still uses its age old technique of making marks on the face and body. Their designs are very popular in the western world and many people prefer the tribal art designs which actually are of Borneo origin. Like Borneo, there are several tribes in Africa which have a tradition of body art and design. However, because of their dark skin color, these people prefer scarification rather than paint.

This ancient art is said to have entered the Modern western world along with the sailors and prisoners brought to England by Captain Cook. It is hard to tell whether it spread to America through the British or from Latin America. The very first tattoo shop was opened n New York in 1846, and later, the electric tattooing machine took over. Since then, it is constantly gained popularity in those countries.

Connor R. Sullivan bought a military t-shirt for a costume for his son who is staring in the school play. Connor R. Sullivan bought several military t-shirts to use as costumes to be worn in a school play.

Pixie Tattoo – How to Obtain a Marvelous Pixie Tattoo

Using pixies in tattoo designs can be challenging for an artist who aims to project the image differently from its seemingly feminine aura. A pixie tattoo that is made with creativity and enthusiasm can prove to be one of the best creations that a tattoo artist will be able to produce. To come up with various representations of a pixie, here are some facts that you might need to know:

Pixies are creatures that are found in folklore, and mythical stories involving these beings are often enveloped with mystique and magic. There have been arguments as to the origin of pixies, among which is its semblance to Celtic traditions. Nevertheless, the pixies have become a favorite of many young women who are into tattoos.

The image of a pixie is often of a beautiful maiden-like character that is either naked or inappropriately dressed. This may be due to reference to the original concept of pixies that are present in mythology. Regardless, today’s pixies are of fairy-like nature that seems express an image of beauty and magnificence.

The pixie tattoo seems to capture the hearts of many tattoo enthusiasts. Even for first-time tattoo parlor customers, the pixies appeal to females strongly. Some say that the irony between the pain attributed to getting a tattoo and the softness related to the identity of pixies is what makes these creatures an attractive body ornament.

Only a few men have enough courage to acquire and flaunt tattoos that have pixies on it. These select men value the pixies as a perfect depiction of their masculinity in such a way that the pixies are altered to project an image that is manly yet still sophisticated.

To produce the desired effect on a tattoo of a pixie, the artist can do some research regarding the whole nature of pixies and the characteristics related to them. For instance, pixies are said to be good travelers and they are fond of people who regard them with respect. These traits can be used as basis for adding details to the tattoo and can enhance its charm.

Pixies are believed to bring good luck and blessings to those who are in allegiance with them. Having a pixie tattoo is taken by some as associated to the good fortune that may come to one’s life.

Using pixies in tattoo designs is not limited to creating fanciful images or scenery that involves forests or floral markings. Some tattoo artists find it quite amusing to make the appearance of pixies more fierce and assertive, defying its typical image. There are some who use dark colors instead of warm and bright colors in portraying pixies, primary because of one goal in mind: accentuating the tattoo in a manner that has been never seen before.

Without a doubt, the test on the artist’s creativity lies in his crafting of a Pixie Tattoo that can sustain the soft image of the creatures yet appear to have a forceful radiance of its own.Tattoos, as works of art, should be well appreciated without prejudice.
